Quixotic Challenges – Week 1 - Birthdays

quixotic Challenges Header

Yay the first challenge has been posted over on the Quixotic Challenges Blog :), Thank you so much for all of your congrats on becoming part of the DT :), The first challenge is a nice easy one in honour of Elaine's Birthday (Happy Birthday Hunni :) ), so we would like you to create a project with a Birthday theme, This could be a card a tag, an altered item, a scrapbook page, anything you fancy :)

Here is my take on the challenge :)

Happy Birthday Deer Friend

I know i know, my card is very plain isn't it, i was suffering one of the worst headaches i have had in a while when i was making this card so couldn't think straight i know it doesn't look it but i was working on this card for hours, i was just sooo slow due to not being able to concentrate, I was actually up all night making it because i couldn't sleep with my headache and as i had left my card to the last minute i got working on it seeing as i would be up all night anyway, eventually though i just couldn't see straight anymore and had to put the card down and see if i could get some kip for a few hours and hoped that my head would clear enough for me to be able to finish my card, well after my nap thankfully my head had cleared up a bit but it was still thumping, i knew i needed to finish my card though so sat down to finish it, my goodness you wouldn't believe the length of time it took me just to add the embellie’s that i did, i must have been through every embellie i have and nothing seemed right, so i eventually gave up and settled for the minimalistic look and just added some pearls and ribbon, thank goodness that my Guest DT package for Quixotic Paperie had arrived yesterday though or i don't even think i would have managed the pearls hehe

One thing i am happy about with this card though is the image, How cute is that little deer, This little deer is called Dorothy and she is a Kraftin Kimmie Stamp, she was given to me along with a few other stamps as a thank you gift from Kimmie herself as i had made the banners and blinkies for her new store, Elaine actually stocks these stamps too in Quixotic Paperie if you would like one for yourself :), I have coloured little Dorothy with my trusty Prismacolour Pencils and she has been cut out and mounted onto a Nestie oval, the sky and grass behind Dorothy are actually some papers printed from a Digi pack which i bought ages ago from Sweet Shoppe Designs, the pack is called Sweet Dreams and it really is an adorable Digi Kit :), The papers used on my card are all from My Minds Eye Bloom and Grow paper pack which again can be found in Quixotic Paperie along with the pearls too :), The ribbon is SU and the sentiment which is comes with the adorable Dorothy stamp has been stamped onto the back of a Tim Holtz Ticket :)

Righty oh that's me for now, I hope that you can take part in this weeks challenge over on the Quixotic Challenges blog and that you can stop by the rest of the DT blogs and see their wonderful creations to this weeks challenge :),  i should be back on Friday or Saturday with my Just Magnolia card so i hope that you can stop by then and say hello :)

Just Magnolia – Week 29 - Monochrome

JM Monochrome Header

This weeks challenge over on the Just Magnolia Challenge Blog is …

Our challenge this week is Monochrome.  Now there was some confusion amongst the DT (me especially) - some of us have interpreted it as it should be - shades of all one colour, others have interpreted it as one colour plus white.  So we're leaving this up to you as to which way you decide to go. Just remember your project MUST incorporate a  Magnolia stamp on it to qualify for a prize.  We are seeing some fabulous cards with no Magnolia images on which is such a shame as they don't qualify to be in the prize draw.

Here is my card for this weeks challenge

JM Monochrome

Right first of all so sorry about the lousy photo, my camera decided it didn't want to play nice this week and no matter how many times i took a picture of this card i couldn't get any better ones that this :(

Now i especially was confused by this weeks challenge (No change there then hehe), i had always thought that Monochrome was 2 colours, like when you see a Black and White Monochrome card for instance , so i made my card Blue and White and only realized that after i had made it and saw the rest of the DT creations that i had got a bit mixed up, so i googled Monochrome only to find out that it means shades of one colour Doh!, But thankfully i wasn't the only person to have thought this and most of the DT had made their cards white plus one other colour , So the challenge was then changed slightly to allow you to interpret Monochrome in your own way :)

You may have noticed that i didn't used my Prismacolours for once, thought it was about time i got my Copics out and gave them some love, Have to admit that my colouring is a bit funky especially on the skin, but hey ho practise makes perfect :), The lovely fur trim around this lovely tilda’s coat (thank you for this sweet image Mina :) ) has been covered in Polar White Flowersoft for some texture, Very strokable hehe

Not a great lover of this card though if i am being honest, still suffering from crafty block it seems but hopefully that will all clear up soon and i will be back to my normal crafty self, Hopefully by next week as i have some lovely news to share, but i will have to keep my lips sealed until then ;)

Righty oh then that's all for now folks, thanks for stopping by and please be sure to pop by the rest of the DT blogs to see their wonderful cards to this weeks challenge :)

Just Magnolia week 28 – My Sketch

JM My Sketch Header

Hey everyone, Sorry for my lack of posting, not been crafting very much the past while, i don't know what it is but i really don't feel up to crafting anything, the only cards i have been making and you probably have noticed this yourself is for the Just Magnolia Challenge Blog, and i think that if i wasn't doing them i really wouldn't have very much to show you all :(, i really hope i get out of this rut soon as i do want to get back to my normal crafty self, so fingers crossed i will be back to normal soon xx

Anyho at least i do have one card to show you, this is for this weeks challenge over on the Just Magnolia Challenge Blog which is to follow a sketch by yours truly ;)

Here is the sketch :)

And here is my card :)

JM My Sketch

I have been dying to use my new Magnolia stamp and Magnolia Papers, and when i saw them together i just thought Country, so that's what i did (well at least hope i did), i created a card with a Country feel to it :), A bit different to my normal type of cards with stronger colours and patterns but i am really happy with the result and just know i will be making this type of card again :)

I made a bit of a oopsie on this card though, i don't think i should have used the Strawberry Paper as the diagonal background layer as the image is covering most of the paper up :(, i think i should have used it as the strip that goes across the card as this paper is just too pretty to be hidden, but hey ho what's done is done and i know not to do it again ;), I did keep the strawberry theme going though by adding this gorgeous Strawberry charm :), i attached the charm to some SU linen thread as chain looked really out of place on this card so i had to improvise and personally i really like it, its different :), and ooo i love the flowers i have used, i have literally heaps and heaps of different kinds of mulberry roses and cherry blossoms etc but i don't ever seem to use them i have no idea why i don't though as i do love them, so i thought it was about time i did and i am so glad i did as they really match the Country feel to the card :), so hey ho there we go, that's my card and i hope you like it, its not too often that i can say i like one of my cards but i really am proud of this one :)

Just Magnolia – Week 27 – Bright and Zingy

JM Bright & Zingy Header

Woo hoo time for another Just Magnolia Challenge :)

This weeks challenge is to create something Bright & Zingy so dig out all your bright and zingy papers and embellies and of course a Magnolia image and get creative.

Here is my card for this challenge :)

JM Bright and Zingy

ooo I did like this challenge, even though I did struggle a bit at first cos i really couldn't decide which Papers to use that would match my image, then i remembered my favourite Stampin Up Washington Apple papers which are lovely and Bright :), I then teamed them with some sprinkles paper from BasicGrey Cupcake range to stick with the sweets theme and hey presto everything else just came together easily :)

My card is based on the my sketch that I designed for the last BasicGrey Challenge, I felt really guilty that I didn't have time to take part , so even though it is really late for the challenge (As another challenge has been posted today) I am still happy that I managed to take part :)

The sentiment that Tilda is sitting on was created on the computer and i have put it as a mini freebie below for you to download if you want to, so feel free to nab it :), The sentiment has been framed by a stamp from the Stampin Up Frames with a flourish set :) (love this set, sooo handy for your sentiments :) )

Download You're So Sweet Sentiment

Righto thats all folks, thanks for stopping by and I hope that you can take part in this weeks challenge over on the Just Magnolia blog, be sure to also stop by the rest of the DT blogs to see their AMAZING creations to this weeks challenge :)
